چکیده
Lotus-leaf-like silica flakes with a three-dimensionally (3D) connected nanoporous structure and controllable thickness have been facilely synthesized; the flakes produced exhibited superior performance in adsorbing enzymes to their microspheric analogues.

Vertically-aligned graphene flakes on nanoporous templates: morphology, thickness, and defect level control by pre-treatment
Various morphologies of the vertically-aligned graphene flakes were fabricated on the nanoporous templates treated with metal ions in solutions, as well as coated with a thin gold layer and activated in the low-temperature Ar plasma. The thickness and level of structural defects in the graphene flakes could be effectively controlled by a proper selection of the pre-treatment method. We have als...
متن کاملFabrication of sub-100nm thick Nanoporous silica thin films
Low refractive index thin films have generated substantial interest for use in optical devices particularly in Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Applications include photonic cavities, mirrors, etc. Such films are required to have precise control over both thickness and refractive index. Here, we investigate fabrication of Omni Directional Reflectors (ODRs) using nanoporous silica films. Sub-100 nm...
متن کاملFabrication of biomimetic superhydrophobic surfaces inspired by lotus leaf and silver ragwort leaf.
Inspired by the self-cleaning lotus leaf and silver ragwort leaf, here we demonstrate the fabrication of biomimetic superhydrophobic fibrous mats via electrospinning polystyrene (PS) solution in the presence of silica nanoparticles. The resultant electrospun fiber surfaces exhibited a fascinating structure with the combination of nano-protrusions and numerous grooves due to the rapid phase sepa...
متن کاملReplication of butterfly wing and natural lotus leaf structures by nanoimprint on silica sol-gel films.
An original and low cost method for the fabrication of patterned surfaces bioinspired from butterfly wings and lotus leaves is presented. Silica-based sol-gel films are thermally imprinted from elastomeric molds to produce stable structures with superhydrophobicity values as high as 160 degrees water contact angle. The biomimetic surfaces are demonstrated to be tuned from superhydrophobic to su...
متن کاملHierarchical Lotus Leaf-Like Mesoporous Silica Material with Unique Bilayer and Hollow Sandwich-Like Folds: Synthesis, Mechanism, and Applications
A facile and straightforward strategy was developed to synthesize hierarchical lotus leaf-like mesoporous silica material (LLMSM) with unique bilayer and hollow sandwich-like folds using hexadecylamine as a structuredirecting agent, high molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone as a structure-stabilizing agent, and tetraethyl orthosilicate as a silica precursor in the mixed solvents of water and e...
